The European Headquarters of a global real estate development company, designed within a heritage building in London, evokes a similar character and atmosphere to it’s American headquarters, while maintaining a strong sense of locale. Focused on preserving and enhancing The Gilbert’s existing structure, tall ceilings were highlighted and original windows were accentuated. One of the most prominent focal points in the design is the two-story helical statement staircase, clad in cold-rolled steel, surrounding a cascading bespoke hand-blown Murano glass chandelier. The simple yet refined finish palette of locally-sourced materials was contrasted by classic but colorful mid-century furnishings, and striking blue-chip artwork on loan from the owners’ private collection.
